How to spot Gold? Definitely not by looking at it.

To Gold, or not to Gold?

To Gold, or not to Gold?

Many people like the look of gold, but sometimes gold can be quite the investment. Gold is a precious metal, and its percent purity is normally reflected in its price. Gold is measured in karats, with 24K (Karat) being the purest form.

Karat Table

Any piece of jewelry that's less than 24K gold means its mixed with other metals. Pure gold (24K) is very soft, malleable, bright and is more orange in color and is extremely expensive. Therefore, most jewelry pieces are not 24K gold.

Gold Alternatives:

There are certainly alternatives if you're after the gold look; we currently offer bronze rings at a discounted price. We also offer gold plated rings, that have a small layer of gold layer around its base layer which is a durable tungsten carbide material. Many people opt for gold filled jewelry as well. Gold vermeil is adding a layer of gold over silver as the base metal. Gold filled jewelry simply means its 5% gold by weight and the base metal is normally jeweler's brass.  You can find gold filled jewelry in our collection as well, and we'll be adding more as more pieces are created. The gold filled jewelry we offer is very durable and holds up well from taking showers in it, working out in it and wearing it for extended period of time. Trust me, I've tested it out myself!

Gold Plating:

Whatever your price point, it is good to know what works best for you if you are looking for gold or the gold look. You can still get valuable pieces of jewelry that are gold filled, gold vermeil or even plated, but it is always important to be informed of what you're buying. We offer certain rings in gold as well, please contact us via email for custom orders. Don't be afraid to shop for gold alternatives that we offer, such as gold filled, gold plated and bronze. Also, when in doubt get your jewelry tested/verified by a jeweler.
